Civic Lab: Get Informed about Electoral Reform

  • Skokie Public Library 5215 Oakton Street Skokie, IL, 60077 United States (map)

In addition to selecting government leaders, voters sometimes have the opportunity to make decisions about how the electoral system works–in other words, to vote about voting.

Presenters will discuss factors that motivate electoral reform and examples of different types of reforms, along with potential implications.

Speakers include Laurel Harbridge-Yong, associate professor in the Department of Political Science and faculty fellow at the Institute for Policy Research at Northwestern University; James Johnson, member of Skokie Alliance for Electoral Reform; and Gary Schotz, member of FairVote Illinois. The speakers will offer context and perspectives on electoral reform related to local and national trends.
